Treefera
Treefera uniquely identify and maps 1 trillion trees.

The Founders
Jonathan Horn previously served as an MD at JP Morgan, where he built expertise in large-scale data systems and AI deployment. With family roots in farming, his passion for forestry and technical acumen converge in Treefera’s mission. He holds a patent in AI optimisation for image analysis and brings deep knowledge of machine learning at scale.
Caroline Grey, was formerly CCO at UiPath, where she played a pivotal role in scaling the company into one of Europe’s fastest-growing software businesses. She has an exceptional track record in go-to-market strategy, scaling sales teams, and building global partnerships.
Together, they combine world-class technical capability with proven commercial execution. Their complementary styles, Jonathan’s analytical rigour and Caroline’s sales leadership, equip them to deliver both product excellence and market adoption.

What Others Missed…
When we first partnered with Jonathan and Caroline, the voluntary carbon market was still dogged by opacity and accusations of “greenwashing.” To many, forestry data looked messy, fragmented, and slow-moving, burdened by regulation, high costs, and manual verification.
But we saw their conviction. Forest transparency was not just a sustainability issue but a data infrastructure opportunity. Treefera’s approach, leveraging satellite, LiDAR, and AI to deliver tree-level accuracy at scale, meant they weren’t simply creating another carbon consultancy. They were positioning themselves as the trusted data layer for a trillion-dollar market waiting.

The Breakthrough
The Treefera timeline:
- In 2023, Concept Ventures led Treefera’s pre-seed, backing their mission to build the world’s first real-time tree database
- By 2024, the company raised a $12M series A round led by Albion VC, with participation from prominent angels
- In 2025, they secured a $30M Series B led by Notion Capital, bringing their total funding to over $45m
Treefera’s is now positioned to build the AI-enabled platform “data fabric” that brings transparency, traceability, and real-time insights to the very beginning of supply chains, often called the first mile - places where goods are sourced (e.g. farms, forests).
Where They Are Now
Treefera has become one of the fastest-scaling climate data platforms in Europe. Their software enables corporates and landowners to manage risk and compliance, as well as source and track credits through surfaceable insights on fire risk, biomass, disease, and carbon sequestration.
They are rolling out partnerships with landowners across the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia, and their platform is being integrated into the workflows of major corporates and carbon marketplaces
Treefera’s ambition is bold: to get one trillion trees on its platform by 2030, creating the largest tree database in the world.
What’s Next
For Jonathan and Caroline, the opportunity is only growing. As regulation tightens and demand for high-quality data to manage compliance, risk and sourcing of assets accelerates, the market needs accurate, verifiable data. Supply chains too, driven by consumer and policy pressure, require transparency at the forest level.
Treefera is on track to be the standard-bearer for this new category: a trusted source of granular, global forest intelligence. For us, Treefera is proof of why we back founders early…before the rest of the world realises how vital their mission is.
