The Concept team is hiring for a 3-month Technical Visiting Analyst. In this capacity, you will play an integral role in building out and implementing on top of our existing tools as well as contributing to a new tech stack - which will touch everything from internal processes and workflows to our sourcing and portfolio value-add strategy. You will be given a lot of responsibility from Day 1, and work closely with each member of the team.

If you’re a natural-born problem solver who likes to build tools, hack things away and find the quickest route possible to get a task done, then this role might be for you. This visiting analyst role can convert to a full-time role. 

Job Title: Technical Visiting Analyst (3-months, opportunity to convert to a full-time role)  

Role Overview: The job is to enhance and manage the platform of tools that are mission-critical to Concept and the fund's success. You will work closely with the investment team and operations team to build tools to improve internal efficiency and supercharge how we work whilst providing services to our portfolio, getting stuck into technical DD on opportunities and sourcing new investments in a tech-driven way.

Location: London (4-days a week in office, remote Fridays)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Maintain Internal Tools: Build and optimise software solutions that enhance sourcing, deal management, portfolio support, and investor relations
  • Automate Data & Relationship Intelligence: Integrate and streamline CRM, network mapping, and outbound sourcing processes to improve efficiency and decision-making
  • Improve Operational Efficiencies: Remove bloat from current operations-focused workflows (e.g. LP and portfolio reporting) and build our Ops tech stack
  • Support Portfolio & Market Analysis: Create tools that provide real-time insights on market trends, competitive landscapes, and portfolio company developments
  • Enhance Infrastructure & Security: Ensure internal systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with best practices for operational efficiency
  • Drive Innovation & Technical Strategy: Explore and implement new technology solutions to enhance the firm’s investment process and ecosystem engagement

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in JavaScript and Python (for automations and prototyping)
  • Familiarity with cloud hosting (AWS / Google Cloud)
  • Experience with web app development and previous projects
  • Understanding of system architecture, data integration, and automation
  • Knowledge of security best practices in software development
  • Experience with GitHub and version control
  • 1-3 years of experience in engineering or data science, ideally with exposure to production codebases

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A junior engineer with a demonstrated interest in startups or venture capital
  • Ability to work independently as the sole engineering hire, with the ability to design and build internal tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving operational efficiency

Hiring Process

We follow a structured and transparent selection process to identify the best candidates for the role. Below is an overview of the key stages:

1. Application Period (3rd – 17th February)

  • Applications open on 3rd February and close at midday on 17th February.

2. Initial Screening

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a 20-minute video interview.

3. Technical Assessment

  • Candidates who progress past the initial interview will be given a technical task to complete within a three-day timeframe.

4. In-Person Assessment

  • Successful candidates will be invited to the Concept office for a structured assessment day, which will include further evaluation and discussions.

5. Final Decision

  • A final decision will be made within 24 hours following the in-person assessment.
